What are the Newest States to Legalize Recreational Cannabis?

Marijuana’s popularity seems to be on the rise all across the USA. There are many states where recreational cannabis has been legalized, and people generally seem more open towards this natural alternative for treating several health problems.

California was the first state to legalize medicinal marijuana back in 1996. In 2012, the state of Colorado passed laws supporting recreational (not just medical) marijuana use and dispensaries. Nevada also decided to declare marijuana legal back in 2016, both for medicinal and for recreational uses. Since 2016, the number of states to legalize marijuana doubled. New Jersey was recently included on the list of the states where this plant became legal for recreational or medical uses, and Vermont is another region where this became possible this year. Despite the fact that marijuana sales are not operational in Vermont, both medicinal and recreational uses are legal in this state.

After failure in 2016, Arizona finally succeeded in making recreational marijuana legal in 2020. Montana also legalized this plant. South Dakota managed to legalize both medical and recreational use at the same time, still in 2020.
