Differences Between CBD and THC Products
Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are two natural compounds found in the cannabis plant, the two major ingredients used in cannabis products. The two ingredients are found in varying concentrations in various hybrids, some hybrids containing more CBD, while others being dominated by THC. The two alkaloids have different effects on the human body – per Marijuana experts, like those found at a popular La Junta dispensary, here are some of the most important differences between CBD and THC products:
- Psychoactive effects – THC is the ingredient responsible for the psychoactive effects of the marijuana products, CBD does not have such effects;
- Medicinal effects – the ingredient that gives marijuana products their health benefits is CBD. CBD products are used to ameliorate pain, to reduce the frequency of seizures, to treat various skin problems and they provide relief without any psychotropic effects.
Marijuana laws are in the process of becoming more relaxed in many states, but most cannabis dispensaries in the states in which both recreational and medicinal marijuana are legal are required by law to sell the two types of products in different spaces. The forms in which the two types of cannabis products are available are also slightly different – CBD products come in the form of extracts in cartridges that can be used in vaping devices, in the form of edibles, topical creams, oils and ointments, while THC products can be smoked, eaten or consumed in the form of beverages.
