Preparing to be tested for cannabis before a job interview or any other important event can be a difficult prospect. Since cannabis can last for quite a while, depending on how much of it you take and whether or not you’re a long time user, you might have to plan on stopping your intake a long time before being tested.

The main issue with cannabis testing is that drug tests typically measure weed by its byproducts and not by the time the drug has been in your blood. In most cases, urine testing is used, which is quite effective in determining whether or not those byproducts – also known as metabolites – still remain in your body or not.

Most cannabis metabolites remain in the body long after the effects of your last high have worn off. As a result, cannabis can still be detected through bodily fluids for up to 30 days after the last use, but in some remote cases, that period was extended to 90 days or so.

Depending on how often you use it, you’ll find its effects will be detected more or less effectively. As a result, for light and moderate users, cannabis can be traced through urine testing for 3 to 7 days. The drug lasts longer for chronic and heavy users, so if you use it daily, it can take more than 15 days for it to clear your system, and if you use cannabis more than once a day, 30 days will not be uncommon.
