Colorado Marijuana Laws

According to the laws in force in the State of Colorado, individuals aged 21 or older can legally possess 1 ounce of THC or marijuana, but the law that regulates the possession and the usage of the substance is more complex than this – here are a few more details:
- To possess marijuana legally, you need to be able to prove that you are at least 21 years old with an ID, such as a driver’s license or a passport, but you don’t need to be a Colorado resident.
- The maximum quantity that can be legally possessed (1 ounce) can be purchased in one transaction – an important change because purchase in one transaction used to be limited to one quarter of an ounce for tourists and only Colorado residents were allowed to buy one ounce in one go.
- Store opening hours – the law allows stores that sell marijuana to stay open between 8am and midnight, but cities can impose their own limitations within that timeframe, so stores in specific towns or cities might be required to open later or close earlier than the general timeframe. Before you visit Pueblo pot shops, check out their hours online.
- Consumption – marijuana cannot be legally consumed in open and public places. You will not find any marijuana clubs or coffee shops in the state, so the best way is to consume your joints in the comfort of your room.
